Festival Atmosphere as Leicester Prepares for Rugby World Cup 2015

A week of festivities is taking place across Leicester, as the city prepares to host three Rugby World Cup games.

The first is Argentina against Tonga at 2.30pm on 4 October, then on 6 October at 4:45 Canada will take on Romania and Argentina will play Namibia at 12noon on 11 October.

The city council have put on a “Festival of Rugby” with entertainment over the course of the weekend.

A specially built fan zone has been built on Victoria park with a huge screen so people can watch the games in a rugby atmosphere.  Entertainment is also taking place in the city centre and outside the Leicester City Football ground, where the three matches will take place.

On Saturday, the city hosts a “Night-time Lit Carnival”, starting at 6pm from New Walk Museum and making its way up New Walk to Victoria Park before arriving at the Fan Zone.

Entertainment will continue on Humberstone Gate and Jubilee Square throughout the weekend with the main stages active from 11am until 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The full itinerary can be found on the Leicester City Council website.
