A new book exploring the relationships between Hindus and Christians living in the west, has been launched in Leicester.

The book entitled ‘The Meeting of Opposites’ was written by the former Director of the St Philips Centre, Canon Andrew Wingate.  Speaking at the launch he said, “We have 50,000 Hindus living here, and there is a long history of Christians trying to engage with them and its more than just going to Diwali, and this book is saying that we must really think through the whole different religions, Christians and Hindus, and where are the points in common, we are not opposites but many people think we are, because we are very different and we have to look at where we we can come together and this city is a very good example”.

The launch which took place at the St Philps Centre was attended by the Bishop of Leicester, Tim Stevens as well as many local dignitaries including Assistant City Mayor Manjula Sood, Former High Sherriff of Leicestershire, Resham Singh Sandhu and Suleman Nagdi, head of the Muslim Council of Leicester.
