Local MP Jon Ashworth kicked off the five-day Ramadhan Festival which opened its doors to the public today.
The event is running in the city for a second year, last years event attracted around 20,000 visitors to the Grosvenor Suite on Belgrave Gate.
This year the venue has once again be transformed into a Mediterranean bazaar with a number of exciting food, fashion and entertainment stalls for visitors to enjoy including Islamic clothing, Arabic calligraphy, book stalls, perfumes and mouth watering food.
The event is running from 8 to 12 August, with Iftar (end of fast) meals and prayer facilities available on site.
