RIDE LEICESTER FESTIVAL RETURNS

Time to get your bikes at the ready, as the annual Ride Leicester Festival is back! Individuals and families can enjoy a whole host of bike-related activities taking place around the city this weekend.

This year’s festival will kick start with the Castle Classic Support Races on Saturday 12th August at the Leicester Cycle Circuit.

This will be followed by the Elite riders’ race over the cobbles of Castle Yard, the Old Town and Mile Straight between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday 13th August. The race is the final round of British Cycling’s Grand Prix series, and will feature domestic, international and Olympic stars.

Take over the streets of Leicester on a traffic-free ride to remember and join 12,000 family cyclists at this year’s HSBC UK City Ride (the new Sky Ride). The bike ride will start at De Montfort University and take place between 12.30 and 4.30pm on Sunday 13th August.

As well as exploring the city-centre route, family riders of all abilities will have the chance to join in with Cyclone Works Junk-art bikes, a special 70-Rickshaw parade, and Wheels For All’s adapted bike fleet.

There will also be a range of entertainment and activities for those not taking part, including Bicycle BMX shows and a Treasure Hunt, as well as a Kids’ Zone where there will be face-painting, bib personalisation and a caricature artist for all of the little ones.
