‘JAB DON’T STAB’ BOXING MATCH RAISES FUNDS FOR BLEED CONTROL KITS ACROSS LEICESTER

A CHARITY boxing match has been held to raise funds for bleed control kits across Leicester, in memory of a man who lost his life to knife crime last year.

The ‘Jab Don’t Stab’ event, took place on March 5 at Leicester Sports Centre in memory of Kieron Moore.

The 20-year-old was found fatally injured in Marriott Road, Leicester shortly before midnight on November 12, and died in the early hours of November 13.

Mason Mills, 23, of Boulter Crescent in Wigston, has been charged with his murder.

Last weekend’s charity boxing event was organised by Ollie Vogue and Tyler Draycott, who want to use the money raised to install a number of bleed control kits around Leicester, with a target of 104 in mind before the end of 2022.

A ‘Memorial Title Belt,’ which was won by Lucas Baker, was dedicated to Mr Moore (pictured) whose family described him as “a beloved son and an amazing brother.”

A replica of the belt was donated to his mum Amanda.

“Obviously she was quite emotional as it had has her son’s name on it, revealed Mr Vogue.

“She was more than happy with what we’d done on the night and how much effort we made to get things right,” he added.

“We made sure we got the best in terms of the staging – we had smoke machines and high powered speakers set up to really get the atmosphere right for the fighters.

“Although we haven’t counted the money yet, the night was a great success and I’m confident that we can reach our target of getting over 100 bleed kits installed in the area, with further events planned for the future.”

“We feel that these should be as prominent and accessible as are Defibrillators,” said Tyler Draycott, on a Crowdfunding site set up to support the event.

“These kits will provide vital minutes to anyone who is involved in a accident with catastrophic blood loss,

“It only take 3 to 5 minutes to bleed out and average response time of an ambulance currently is seven, these minutes are critical to saving someone’s life.”

The bleed control kits, which cost around £100 each, will be installed in areas of Leicester including Saffron Lane, Aylestone, Eyres Monsell, South Wigston, Hamilton, Netherall and Thurnby Lodge.

The next charity event will be held at the centre on June 11, with an emphasis on ‘carrying respect – not a blade.’

Anyone wanting to compete is urged to get in touch with the organisers at: jabdontstab.events@gmail.com

Training will be provided.
