A CHANCE TO MEET EDDIE THE EAGLE IN LEICESTER

Legendary Winter Olympian Eddie the Eagle is heading to Leicester later this year to support one of the city’s biggest charities.

Michael David Edwards, better known as Eddie the Eagle will be supporting LOROS Hospice on September 7 and 8, by attending a Ladies Lunch event, designed to raise funds for the charity.

Following a three course meal, the legendary English ski-jumper will be sharing his life experiences and heroic tales of triumph and determination from the late 80s, when he competed in both the 70m and 90m events, and famously finished in last place far behind his nearest rival.

However, his story captured imaginations across the world, so much so that it was turned into a 2015 film starring Taron Egerton as Eddie and Hugh Jackman as his fictional coach Bronson Peary.

“I cannot wait to be a part of the LOROS Ladies Lunch this September. I’ll be sharing my story of being an English ski-jumper and how in 1988 I became the first Olympic competitor since 1921 to represent Great Britain”, said the sporting icon of the event, which is set to take place at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

“Be sure to join me for a wonderful day with friends and together, let’s raise much-needed funds for LOROS Hospice.”

“This is a truly unique opportunity to discover more about the Olympian that made headlines”, said a spokesman for LOROS, which supports thousands of terminally ill patients and their families each year across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

“It brings us great pleasure to share that our last Ladies Lunch (in 2019) made a record-breaking amount for the Hospice, raising almost £20,000. Your support really does help us to be there when it matters most”.

Tickets are priced at £47 per person and there are also a limited number of VIP packages available. Priced at £57 per person, VIP tickets include a meet and greet opportunity with Eddie the Eagle, as well as being on a table close to the front of the room.

To book a place, call 0116 231 8431 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday and pay by card over the phone. The event on Wednesday September 7 is almost sold out already. More information can be found online at: https://loros.co.uk/events/2022/09/07/ladies-lunch-2022
