Leicestershire School’s Set for Major Overhaul Following Funding Boost

Schools in Anstey and Oadby will see a major overhaul of their facilities, after being awarded a slice of £1.8 billion Government funding.

Oadby’s Brocks Hill Primary school and Anstey’s Martin High School are among 239 schools to have been given a slice of funding in the latest round of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme.

Announced in 2020, the decade-long scheme is designed to modernise schools and sixth-form college buildings across England.

The proposal is for the schools to have their old facilities replaced by modern education environments including new classrooms, sports halls and dining rooms.

They will also be made more energy efficient and net-zero in operation.

Kath Kelly, CEO of Lionheart Educational Trust, which runs the two Leicestershire schools, welcomed the news.

“We’re delighted that two schools in our Trust – Brocks Hill Primary School in Oadby and Martin High School in Anstey – have been selected as part of the Department for Education’s school rebuilding programme, announced in late December,” she said.

“We welcome the opportunity to further improve facilities for current and future pupils and thank the DfE for their continued support.”

It is thought that the refurbishments will be completed within the next three to five years.
