Appeal from Ugandan President to Businesses in the East Midlands

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has appealed to businesses in the East Midlands to invest in the African nation, after the country ordered tens of thousands of Asians to leave more than 40 years ago.

Potential investors who met with the president included Jaffar Kapasi, a prominent Leicester Asian businessman.

President Museveni said the country was safe, stable and prosperous and there was no chance of history repeating itself.

He also stated Uganda’s economy has been growing at a rate of 6.5 per cent for the last 28 years, and is expected to grow in double digits over the coming years.
