Business Diversity Awards Celebrate Success in Leicester

Many of Leicester’s top businessmen and women were in attendance at the Leicester Business Diversity Awards last Friday.

 

Taking place at the Sturgess Jaguar car dealership on Narborough Road, around 300 people attended the dinner and awards evening.

 

 

This was the second time the awards ceremony has taken place, fourteen people received awards for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the Leicester economy.

 

The event was organised by Business 2 Business, a welfare to work company which works with employers to engage with young people in Leicester.

 

B2B Director Veejay Patel said, “Leicester Diversity awards was something we started last year, its very unique in the sense that, what we are trying to do is engage with employers and engage in a diverse society, we want to enjoy the benefits that a diverse workforce reaps and I think what we’ve got tonight is evidence of that”

 

“We all know Leicester is the most diverse city in the country, and for me its only right as somebody that was born in Leicester to enjoy the benefits of that diversity, and acknowledgements at this type of occasion really do press forward in terms of what we want to be in terms of the highlight of the world”

 

Award winner Vic Sethi of Anand International said “The award tonight means a lot to me, but its not just me being awarded, its the whole family and team behind that’s being recognised

 

Commercial director at East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Diane Simpson who also won an award said “This is fantastic, its the first diversity award that I’ve won and to be recognised for that means a lot”

 

Award winner Wasim Khan, chief executive of Leicestershire County Cricket Club said “Its fantastic, its great to receive any award and to be recognised in this way as someone of significance within sport and the city obviously its a great honour to receive it”

 

“I Feel really touched, today its been a great calibre of people, its been amazing, I’d like to thank my parents for the energy that they’ve given me, without them I wouldn’t be standing here today, I think everybody is a winner in the room today so great news all around” said award winner Rajesh Gohil, founder of Inspect Property.
