The legal executive, who has never boxed before, hopes to raise thousands of pounds by slugging it out in the charity event.

Lorna, who works as a company and commercial specialist at Douglas Wemyss Solicitors, said: “ I was genuinely touched when I saw exactly the amount of work and support provided by Cancer Research UK and decided that this was how I was going to do my bit.

“Boxing was something that I have never considered doing before but I have realised n the last 10 weeks just how much passion and dedication it requires.

“It has been a very challenging time especially to fit in the training between my personal and professional life but it is for an excellent cause and this has been my motivation.

“Including the tickets sales, I have raised £800 and my original target was £500 so I’m hoping to get over the £2,000 mark by the time it is over.

“I have really enjoyed the challenge and I have had the opportunity of meeting great people and making new friends along the way and hope to continue boxing after the event.”

The charity event is part of regular national events held by Ultra White Collar Boxing and will take place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Saturday November 28 from 5pm.

The evening will see three boxing rings host over 50 fights with each three round bout lasting two minutes. The boxer scoring the most points will be awarded the win.
