Daredevils Wanted For Charity Abseiling Challenge in Leicester

Leicester Hospitals Charity is looking for daring individuals to abseil down six storeys of the Royal Infirmary’s Windsor Building this summer to raise funds for charity.

The charity wants people to sign up for its annual  ‘BIG Abseil’ challenge, which involves participants abseiling down the 100 ft wall on the Windsor Building at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

A total of 80 people took part in the event last year, raising over £23,000 for the cause.

This year’s event is set to take place on the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2nd July.

“We’re looking for brave souls to take on this abseil challenge and raise money for our Leicester Hospitals. For one day only, you’ll have the chance to climb to the top of the Leicester Royal Infirmary roof,” said a spokesman for Leicester Hospitals Charity, which exists to support patients, their carers, and the NHS staff who look after them in Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond.

“Here you’ll be harnessed up, before climbing over the edge and abseiling the 100ft back down – you’re bound to feel an adrenaline rush afterwards!

“This challenge will give you spectacular views across Leicester as you stand at the top, the chance to see the famous LCFC Stadium from above and even Old John at Bradgate park.”

Thrill seekers are required to raise £150 in order to take part, and pay a £20 entry fee.
