Fire In Leicester Causes Hundreds To be Evacuated

A factory which was believed to be disused, caught fire in the Belgrave area of Leicester on the 28th of December at around 2.15pm.

Hundreds of people were evacuated from their nearby homes, including an elderly care home, situated too close to the blaze which had engulfed the entire factory building within minutes.

The toxic smoke plume could be seen not only from the city, but further afield in Leicestershire outskirts. Hundreds of spectators were watching the Fire crews tackle the blaze and eventually were escorted even further away by Police in the fear that the smoke would be detrimental to peoples health.
