“Miracle” Lamb Twins Born of “Virgin” Sheep

The Staff at White Post Farm in Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire have encountered a peculiar event involving one of their “Virgin” Sheep giving birth to twin lambs only two days before Christmas day.

With no evidence of pregnancy, all the staff are puzzled due to the ultrasound scan having shown nothing, including the fact that there was no evidence of mating by the Ram, which wears a contraption leaving a painted mark on the Ewes back.

They had put Shirley the sheep into the maternity area just to have some company, but eventually she had given birth to the twin lambs, which was weeks after the other Sheep had given birth.

Anthony Moore, one of the managers at White Post Farm said: “We weren’t expecting these two beautiful lambs, as far as we were aware, all our lambs, all our goat kids for the season had been born, and on the morning of the 23rd of December, we arrived to find in the barn, these two perfect twins, born to Shirley mum here who is doing a fantastic job but as far as we were aware, she wasn’t pregnant, so a surprise for everyone, except for Shirley probably!”

He went on to say: “As far as I’m concerned it’s a Christmas miracle, I’m sure our Stocksman and maybe others are looking for something far more scientific, but this time of year, and for me, it’s a miracle.”

Having been named Angel and Mary, the Lambs will continue to stay at White Post Farm, becoming resident pets, and surely will be attracting visitors to meet and feed them.
