Race for Life postponed once again

Sadly women may have to wait a little longer to compete in Race for Life 2012 as the event has had to be postponed once again due to continued heavy flooding at Western Park, Leicester.

Event organisers had to make the difficult decision of rescheduling the race, which was due to take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July, because of health and safety concerns for the participants due to take part.

Victoria Meikle, Leicester Race for Life event manager said: “The continued wet weather has prevented the waterlogged Leicester Race for Life course and car parks from drying out. This means all three Leicester Race for Life events due to take place this weekend are being postponed for a second time.

“We are very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience caused. The health and safety of our participants has to come first so we hope everyone understands why this difficult decision had to be made.

“We are trying to re-organise the dates as quickly as possible to enable as many people as possible to join in.  All participants will be contacted by Cancer Research UK and we will do our utmost to ensure they can take part in an alternative event.

Participants who are unable to join on the new dates can either swap to another event, or obtain a refund by calling the hotline number on 0871 641 1111.
