A Leicestershire golf club has raised over £9,000 for Leicester Hospitals Charity to support the Chemotherapy suite at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Members and guests at Whetstone Golf Club have been fundraising for the last year to support the development of the chemotherapy suite at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Some of the members, their families and friends have been impacted personally by cancer and wanted to support the area of Leicester’s Hospitals so that they could make a difference to the lives of others.
This was the second year in a row that the golf club have fundraised for the charity. Throughout the two years they’ve hosted golf days, race days, tombola and raffles to raise their impressive total.
Captain of the club Lloyd Cobb said: “The members and families of Whetstone Golf Club have supported this great cause throughout 2022 with various functions including raffles, race nights, charity days and sponsored bike rides to Skegness, to mention just a few of the many extremely well supported events we’ve held that helped us raise £9056.33 for the Chemotherapy Suite Appeal, which is close to many of our members hearts.
“The Whetstone Golf Club family feel privileged to have supported such a worthwhile charity.”
Leicester Hospitals Charity work with local community groups and sports clubs to raise money for Leicester’s Hospitals and the community has always been receptive to supporting such a local cause.
Director of Leicester Hospitals Charity, Lisa Davies said: “Thank you to Whetstone Golf Club for the incredible amount they’ve raised, every penny helps to make the lives and care of the community better.
