Leicester Band Announce Final Shows under the Name ‘Easy Life’ Amid legal dispute with Easy Jet

Leicester band Easy Life says it will change its name – after being threatened with legal action by the holding company of airline easyJet.

In a statement published on their website, Easy Life’s members said they had ‘no good options available’ and that a name change was the only way to move forward after the easyGroup challenged the designs of tour t-shirts and posters.

They added that they would now be entering a period of ‘legal mediation’ with easyGroup in order to bring the matter to a close.

EasyGroup had claimed the names are too similar and branded frontman Murray Matravers, and the rest of Easy life, as “brand thieves” who “decided to use our brand, easyLife without permission.”

“You can imagine the turmoil this has caused us, but I really hope this helps you understand our situation. We have found solace in the outpourings of love and support, for which we are all grateful for beyond words.

“Even though we aren’t able to fight this, we now need to go into a period of legal mediation with Easy Group about what happens next,” they said.

“It’s with the deepest sadness that I confirm once again, that we, as easy life, will be playing our final shows this week.

“Perhaps our case will help provoke a dialogue around legal reform and justice being available to all, however I fear such conversations will fall on deaf ears.”

The NME Award-winning band, have been active since 2017 under the Easy Life name.

But they said they would now only perform under that name for the rest of the week, with their final gig taking place at London Koko on Friday (October 13).

They will be performing in at Leicester’s O2 Academy tomorrow (Thursday, October 12), with tickets available for £15.

“Essentially it’s David vs Goliath and our British legal system favours Goliath. Friday is to be our last day as easy life. Best believe we want to go out in style,” said the band in a statement.
