Multi Talented Veena Malik Talks with Pukaar News

 

With the launch of her latest single, RUM, the Pakistani born actress, singer and model, Veena Malik met with Pukaar News to discuss her career so far.

 

Veena is multi-talented actress, TV host and model who has appeared in Lollywood, Bollywood and Kollywood films.

 

“My journey has been kind of a roller coaster ride.”

 

She made her film debut in 2000 with Sajjad Gul’s Tere Pyar Mein. In 2002, she starred in Akbar Khan’s Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa and Sassi Punno and later played roles in films such as Koi Tujh Sa Kahan and Kabhi Pyar Na Karna. In 2012, she earned commercial success in bollywood with Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, Mumbai 125 KM 3D and Zindagi 50-50. In 2013 she appeared in Kannada film Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga and Supermodel.

 

In October 2010, Veena appeared in the Indian television reality show Big Boss Season 4. She was evicted two weeks before the finals, and was one of the final six contestants out of the original fourteen who had participated.

 

“That was a fun show. I was on Big Boss because I really like the idea. It’s something so beautiful that you are completely disconnected from the world.”

 

Veena has also worked as a representative at the World Health Organization for two years.  She also sponsors a child at the SOS Children’s Village, an NGO based in Pakistan working with orphaned children.

 

In terms of her Bollywood career, Veena is also very specific about how she goes about choosing the right script for her.

 

“I only like to play or do films where I have all the limelight!”

 

Though she would like to be cast as a female hero, she is keen to focus more on her music then films at the moment. But, the opportunity to make movies still appeals to her.

 

“The Silver Screen is one of the things I am madly in love with and I think I would like to continue doing films in Pakistan and India and other industries too.”
