HM THE QUEEN TO ATTEND MAUNDY SERVICE AT LEICESTER CATHEDRAL

The Sub-Dean of Leicester Cathedral, Canon Alison Adams, has confirmed that on Maundy Thursday, April 13th, 2017, the service at which Maundy Money is distributed by Her Majesty The Queen will be held in Leicester Cathedral.

Canon Alison said: “Her Majesty The Queen visited us at the start of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations and we are proud to welcome her back. This will be a great celebration of faithful service to the community from both the City and County of Leicester.”

The Rt Revd Martyn Snow, the Bishop of Leicester said: “I am delighted that the Royal Maundy service is to be held in Leicester Cathedral this year.

“It will be especially moving to see Her Majesty who has devoted her life in Christian service to the Country, giving purses of special coins to the men and women in recognition of their Christian service to the church and community here in our Diocese.”
