LEICESTER MAN CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER AFTER FATAL COLLISION

A Leicester man has appeared in court, after being charged with the manslaughter of a 28-year-old woman in Barrow.

Ian Curson, 42, of Fairhaven Road, Leicester, was arrested last Tuesday evening (September 6), just hours after the collision which fatally injured Caragh Eaton.

Police were called to Field Edge Drive in Barrow upon Soar at 4.40pm following reports that a woman has been struck with a car. The car was found abandoned nearby.

Curson has been charged with manslaughter and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded into custody and appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (September 10).

At court, he appeared only to confirm his name and address. No pleas were made during the hearing.

He was remanded into custody and will appear next at Leicester Crown Court on October 17.

Since the incident, which has rocked the Barrow community, Ms Eaton’s family have released a statement, detailing their devastation and struggle to come to terms with her death.

“We have been devastated by the loss of Caragh, our much-loved daughter, sister and mother.

“We are struggling to come to terms with our loss and the circumstances of her death,” they said.

“We would like to thank everyone for their messages of condolence. They are giving us much comfort and we feel greatly supported.

“The family ask for understanding in order to deal with our grief in private at this difficult time.”
