Leicester Studio79 Invited to NEC Birmingham

A group of young people from Leicester have the exciting chance to dance for the thousands of people going to the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham this weekend.

The Dance Show débuts this year at the Clothes Show Live and features performances from over 40 performers and dance troupes. There are dance masterclasses and a freestyle stage. TVs Arlene Phillips will also be there judging The Young Dancer of the Year competition.

Leicester locals aged 16 to 19 who have been studying the National Diploma in Dance at Studio79 on Midland Street will have a once in a lifetime chance to perform at The Dance Show. They will be performing their routine at the same event as well known professional dance troupes including Flawless and Flava.

Ellyn Phillips, The Principle of Studio 79, said, “We are thrilled to be performing, it is a wonderful opportunity for the students who are working very hard on their National Diploma Course”

One of the young people who will be performing is Sam Chandler. He is a 17 year old from Broughton Astley and is in his second year of the National Diploma. He said, “We are all so excited to be given the opportunity to perform at such a high profile event. We can’t wait to attend the workshops by people that inspire us such as Lizzy Gough and The Rambert Dance Company”

Studio79 runs both the BTEC National and BTEC First Diplomas in Dance. These are full time study programmes for young people aged 16 to 19 which qualify them to audition and dance professionally.

Studio79 also runs courses for professional dancers to broaden and sharpen their skills. They run courses for beginners in a variety of dance styles ranging from Ballet to Breakdancing. They are the only dance studio in Leicester to offer such a wide range of courses.

The Clothes Show Live is the biggest fashion show in the Midlands. It attracts thousands of people from all over the United Kingdom who come to see the well known designers and buy the wide range of designer products. It is one of the biggest events for any fashionista in England.

Last year’s event attracted thousands of people. Someone who attended last year described the Clothes Show Live as, “a really fun event to go to. The fashion show was amazing and there was a good variety of products on sale from lots of well known companies. It’s a great place to be because of the wonderful Christmas spirit.”

This year promises to be just as much fun with over 150 designers attending the event and celebrities such as Gok Wan and George Lamb.
